SETAM inaugurated Cairn and Caron Lifts

On Saturday 19^th 2008, the SETAM inaugurated 2 brand new completely automatic gondolas Cairn and Caron. These « new generation » cable cars that consist of 2 lifts and four stations (departure and arrival) represent a World first, because they operate without any employees in three out of four stations. This type of management is called ESO, which means « Exploitation without Operators ».

2 new automatic 8-seater gondolas which allow skis to be carried inside. The turnover of these new lifts doubles the old ones and the modern architectural stations offer various services such as toilets, escalator access, waiting rooms, exhibitions, ski pass sales point...

Specially adapted access for handicapped skiers and beginners, with, notably, the installation of a lift. 10% of the cabins have been specially designed to make it easier to load wheel chairs. The new blue piste, created under the gondola, starting from the resort, gives an easy access to the lower part of the ski area, which goes from an altitude of 1800 to 3230 metres.

20 million Euros have been invested by the SETAM (Tarentaise-Maurienne lift company). It is the most important ski lift investment in France in 2007.
