Val Tho Trophy

From 8 August to 9 August

From beginners to more experienced, Val Thorens brings together for a weekend all the lovers of mountain hiking.

The Val Tho trophy is to either push your self on the first day or have a relaxed walk the next day. Or why not attend both?

Saturday the 8th: the vertical Val Tho - memorial of Jean Béranger

"The definition of the vertical kilometer is simple : 1000 meters of slopes on a short distance to be completed against the clock". Yves Jeannotat, a sports journalist and a specialist in athletics.

The starting point is at the foot of the Cime Caron where in a group you will start the climb of 4.3km and finish at the summit at 3200 meters in altitude ; which makes the Vertical Val Tho, the highest vertical kilometer in Europe.

When up the top, breathe and look around you, profit from a 360° view over more than 1000 French, Italian and Suisse summits.

The vertical Val Tho is great training for the 15 days of the ultra trail on the Mont banc.
