#Ski Adrien THEAUX gets to know Kitzbühel's summits!

Published the 27 January 2014

Kitzbühel is the Mecca of Alpine skiing. It's where every skier dreams of triumphing one day.
On Saturday the 25th of January at almost 12.30pm, the best French downhill skier of the moment launched himself onto the fabled "Streif".

A legendary run, the Streif has witnessed the endeavours of the biggest names in skiing history. "The first thirty seconds are absolutely terrifying. The last thirty seconds are absolutely terrifying. In between, you're just trying to understand how you've survived the first part and mentally preparing yourself for surviving the last part." That's how Canadian Rob Boyd describes the run... it says it all!

But Adrien THEAUX wasn't scared! 2 minutes and 4 seconds later, the Val Thorens native, his thighs still burning, his heart rate pushed to the limit, looked up at the leader board... provisional 3rd place! A few minutes later, the verdict arrived; Adrien had finished 4th in the downhill. It was a wonderful performance, just a second off the winner, Austrian Hannes REICHELT, and behind the legendary Aksel Lund SVINDAL in 2nd place and Bode MILLER in 3rd.

Kitzbühel is evidently a lucky destination for Val Thorens. It was in the bucolic and traditional setting of this Austrian resort that Val Thorens was named, on the 16th of November last year, the best ski resort in the World!

Taking 4th place here, Adrien THEAUX is now in line for 5th place in the World Cup downhill ranking and 10th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

Adrien's next challenge is the St Moritz downhill in Switzerland on the 1st of February!
