It's exactly one month to the day before the launch of Val Thorens' winter season and the first snowfall is eagerly anticipated... to be honest, we're every bit as impatient as you are to see it fall and get our skis on!
After spending a few nights outside finding the right settings and learning to avoid the pitfalls of time-lapse photography this summer, we're ready for the video that we've been waiting to make since the end of last season.
It's 3pm. We cast a final glance at the weather forecast, snow is predicted to fall later this evening so we need to set up our camera equipment. The battery's charged, the high-capacity memory cards are in place, the chargers are close at hand, the tripod's unfolded, the composition is framed, and the remote control is programmed... we're good to go!
The hours pass by and night falls, we adjust our settings to best capture the last of the daylight and the starry sky between tonight's clouds. Finally, the rain begins to fall, the temperature drops and starts to work its magic... much-anticipated snow begins to cover the resort's rooftops, then the roads... The snow will continue to fall throughout the day, putting huge grins on our faces, but enough words, it's time for pictures...
