The Snow Guarantee

More than a promise: a reality

More than a promise: a reality The higher it is, the more snow it has: Val Thorens can guarantee snow from November to May!

Confident in the quality of its snow cover, Val Thorens offers the possibility to book your winter sports holiday without worrying about the lack of snow, with the introduction of its unique "Snow Guarantee".

Thanks to its remarkable location, Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe, has a ski area of which 99% is situated above an altitude of 2000 metres.

This ski area is equipped with modern infrastructures providing artificial snow-making facilities over nearly 40% of its surface ..

This is why Val Thorens decided to set up the best “snow guarantee” in Europe: if you find one European ski resort with a better ski area opening rate and more open connected runs, Val Thorens offers a free skiing day!

On top of that, Val Thorens now propose a second guarantee: the departure from the resort ski in ski out from November 23d, 2013 to May 11th, 2014.

Snow guarantee: Conditions

Snow guarantee: Conditions This offer is valid if you buy an all included package at the Val Thorens Booking Centre or any accommodation provider.

You can also benefit from this offer if you buy your ski pass on our website at the latest on Friday preceding the 1st skiing day.

Val Thorens guarantees that the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area opening rate is, on average, the highest in Europe during the week (from Saturday to Friday included), and whatever the week of the season (between November 22nd, 2014 and the May 10th, 2015).

If, due to a lack of snow, one or more European resort has a higher ski area opening rate than Val Thorens-Orelle and more open connected pistes, the SETAM and the STOR will give you a one day voucher.

This offer is also valid for the holder of a Vallée des Belleville or 3 Vallées ski pass bought in Val Thorens or Orelle, but the voucher will only be valid on the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area.

To benefit from this offer, you have to have a valid 6 days or more ski pass and stay in Val Thorens or Orelle. The ski pass must have been bought on website, at the latest on Friday preceding the 1st skiing day or in the form of an all included package at the Val Thorens Réservation booking office or any accommodation provider of Val Thorens-Orelle.

The calculation will be made each week on the base of the 78 slopes of the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area, and on the base of the 3 Vallees for the number of open connected runs.

The guarantee “ski-in ski-out”: if you can not leave the resort or come back skiing, there as well, an extra day will be offered to you.

By “ski-in ski-out” resort, it is understood that we mean a departure and a return in the resort and not necessarily at the foot of your accommodation.

* A proof of higher opening rate and number will have to be brought to one of the ski pass office, during the stay by the client holder of a valid ski pass.

Only the slopes closed because of a lack of snow will be taken into account: the closing due to bad weather, to technical problems or for safety reasons (avalanches, crevasses....) will not be evoked for the getting of free skiing days.

This offer is not valid for the season pass holders.

You must then fill in a form available in all the lift ticket offices of Setam and Stor. You must give us this form at the end of your stay, with your lift pass and a written proof of your stay in Val Thorens or Orelle (copy of the voucher of your accommodation, or invoice...), as well as a written proof of higher opening rate and number in another European resort (screen copy of an official website, for instance). For Val Thorens, the only accepted websites are or

We do not offer, in any case, money back, but a credit of 1 day lift ticket for the Val Thorens-Orelle ski area, to be used either at the end of the stay, or during the current season, or during the next season. These offers are not valid simultaneously.
