Mission ALLps (all the alps) in 3 month !
Crossing the Alps through all the countries which make part of the Alps chain, only helped by winter sport equipment: Alpine ski, cross country ski, climbing rocks and ice, paragliding, with one restriction: " no motorised transport or ski lift is admitted" : that is the challenge of the big adventure for Giacomo Para, 59 years, monitor in Val Thorens since 23 years. This pharaonic project is a outsized bet which needs courage, determination, without talking of the physical capacities- which are the intrinsic values of Val Thorens, the resort that supports Giacomo in this ambitious initiative. Val Thorens is interested in this kind of out of the ordinary projects, in real human challenges to push the limits and eventually in successes which seemed impossible at first. That defines the spirit of Val Thorens, born 40 years ago thanks to pioneers who have courageously started this high risk project.
ALLps is the deposed brand for this project, which has started in the beginning of January in Slovenia, passing by the northern alps (Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, France, Italy, Monaco) and will end at Nice in March. A distance of 2200 km, summits at4000m of height, a challenge worthy for a real mountain and tour ski passionate, " Next to the physical challenge, the main spirit of this expedition is the human adventure" says Giacomo, who dreamed of realising this project for a long time.
With close to 100 000meters of height difference done every year, Giacomo has already been to the Caucasus, the Mont Blanc, to Morocco (Atlas) and has crossed the mountain chain of Than Shan in Kyrgyzstan in 2011.
For a part of this new expedition he will be joined by Paolo Rabbia, alpinist, who has followed the Walter Bonatti circuit on his own three years ago. A Land Rover will be driven by Giorgio Berutti, accompanied by Luigi de Matteis( 84 years), engineer, already chosen by Bonatti in 1956 as topographic expert during his first crossing. They are following the adventurers to guaranty the independence on food and material.

Last year, the Val Thorens resort has supported the project of Luc Dupont, monitor in Val Thorens, who has navigated the North-West passages starting in Greenland to go to the Bering Strait, and who already did a solo sailing tour around the world. Val Thorens also supported last year Clément Chabert, who climbed the Kilimanjaro to 5898m of height, as well as the 4L Trophy rally in Morocco, a circuit of more than 6000 km done by Marion Guyot and Stéphanie Fontaine.
