[Snow Report] 16 Jan. 2014

Published the 16 January 2014

Hello everyone and welcome to Val Thorens for the traditional snow report. Today is the 16th of January 2014.

Here is the weather forecast for the next few days: conditions are fairly unsettled but tomorrow will see a number of sunny spells. Expect to experience a little snowfall over the weekend. Next week, some unsettled weather and snowfall is expected but right now, nothing is certain and it could still all change!

The ski area is enjoying quality snow cover with 90cm of snow in the resort and 1m 60cm at the top of the runs. As you can see all around me, the snow is fresh!

The avalanche risk is 3/5, which is considerable. Avoid going off-piste! Control your speed on the runs!

Entertainment-wise, a big weekend is coming up in Val Thorens with two skicross events taking place at the end of the week.

It's the last global skicross event before Sotchi! There's also the Game of blogs, a competition between 7 European bloggers, and the French Snowscooting championships, which are also taking place this weekend.

Next week, the SFR Tour brings its first stage to Val Thorens, a Slopestyle competition taking place between the 22nd and the 25th of January.
