Published the 06 January 2014During the keenly contested 6 Resorts Tournament, which took place for the first time last winter, Val Thorens met with former rugby international and captain of the French team, Serge Betsen - and became aware of his organisation and its cause.
Having a number of strongly held values such as sport, health and education in common, the resort of Val Thorens and the Serge Betsen Academy formed a partnership.
A number of steps will be carried out this winter, including a link via Val Thorens' new e-shop. Val Thorens now donates 1€ to the Serge Betsen Academy for every Val Thorens product purchased at the Freegun e-shop
This financial support will help to shore up the work of the organisation, founded in 2004, and its centres in Cameroon, which help children in a challenging environment to realise their potential through sport.
The financial aid will help to guarantee the next stage of the SBA's work in Cameroon, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2014.
Here's what the president of the Serge Betsen Academy had to say:
"I am happy to have signed this partnership with Val Thorens. In one way, this partnership symbolises recognition for the work we have been carrying out in Cameroon for the last 9 years and it's also a fantastic ski resort lending us its resources to support what our organisation does. I'd like to thank Val Thorens from the bottom of my heart for its generosity, as well as all of our volunteers who are working in Cameroon, France, the UK, and the USA every day with the sole aim of helping children to realise their potential in a challenging environment."

On the 28th of February, Serge Betsen will be in Val Thorens for the 6 Resort Tournament.
