Albertville > Val Thorens - Etappe 20 - 130 km - Gebirge
Just before the final sprint through Paris the following day, the Tour de France riders will be faced with a number of very difficult climbs in what is a particularly technical, challenging and tough 20th stage.
Starting out from Albertville, the racers will pass through Le Beaufortain and climb the spectacular Cormet de Roselend, before heading to Moûtiers from where they will take on the 34-kilometre climb to the top of the Belleville Valley, along the Saint Laurent de la Côte mountain road (some 19 kilometres longer than the climb up to Alpe d'Huez). After passing through the village of Saint Martin de Belleville and the resort of Les Menuires, the peloton will arrive at the Chalets du Thorens in Val Thorens, in the heart of the ski area at an altitude of 2,365 metres. This final mountain stage will cover a distance of 131 kilometres and almost 4,563 metres of altitude difference!
