Discover our 2 high-altitude cycle paths
The 2 high-altitude cycle paths, open in summer 2022, are paved and exclusively dedicated to bicycles. They allow cyclists to have the impression of being alone in the world, facing a breathtaking panorama.
The two cycle paths are accessible both to families on electric bikes and to accomplished cyclists. Be careful though, the Les Menuires – Col de Tougnète cycle path has quite high percentages of up to 20% at the end.
Les Menuires cycle path – Val Thorens
- Length: 6,5 kilometers
- Ascent: 535 meters
- Average slope: 8,3%
This cycle path passes by Lac des Échauds where it is pleasant to stop for a picnic. Benches are available for self-service.
Good to know: the cycle path is simpler in the direction Val Thorens – Les Menuires only in the direction Les Menuires – Val Thorens because a large part of the track is downhill to reach Les Menuires. If you do not want to make the round trip and thus avoid going back up to Val Thorens by bike, it is possible to take the free shuttle Belleville Valley from Les Menuires to return to Val Thorens. The shuttle is equipped with a trailer allowing you to lift the bikes.
Scooters are authorized on the Les Menuires cycle path – Val Thorens.
Departure from the cycle path at Val Thorens
À Val Thorens, the start of the cycle path Val Thorens – Les Menuires is at the entrance to the station, at the fire station. The start of the cycle path is marked in yellow on the map below.
Another tarmac portion, also marked in yellow on the map, allows you to cover the last kilometer to the finish of the Tour de France 2019.
Les Menuires – Col de Tougnète cycle path
- Length: 7 kilometers
- Ascent: 626 meters
- Average slope: 9,4%
