11th Ski Cross World Cup in Val Thorens
For the tenth year running, the Val Thorens Sports Club is organising the Ski Cross World Cup!
For this edition, improvements have been made to make it even more impressive than before.
What is ski cross?
Skicross was born at the end of the 1990s in the United States, where the first Winter X Games were held.
The principle of skicross is quite simple: a race along a course made up of various natural or artificial elements such as bumps, banked curves or springboards.
Four by four, the skiers race down the slope as fast as they can. Only the top two in each run qualify for the next stage, right through to the grand final!
Skicross has been an Olympic event since the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
At the bottom of the Jean-Frédéric Chapuis track, you can enjoy the show while taking in the village and its entertainment.
On Wednesday 7 December at 6pm, the opening ceremony will take place on Le Board (the brand new sports centre), with a view of the torchlight descent. Then a fireworks display will bring the team presentations to a close!
We look forward to seeing many of you at the finals on 8 and 9 December 2022.
