Every 24th of December, a mysterious tall bearded man, all dressed in red, is spotted skiing down Val Thorens’ slopes. This year, we finally got the chance to meet him on Moutière chairlift! And that’s where the rumors stop: in exclusivity, here is the first interview of Santa on the slopes !
Good morning Santa! Is it really you, every year, on Val Thorens slopes? What are you doing here?
Hello! Yes, it’s me! I am used to come to Val Thorens resort every year on Christmas Eve to spoil and treat the families, and then to start my trip across the world on the 24th.
Our reporters noticed that you have been one of the numerous visitors to try the zip-line. After all, isn’t it very similar to a flight in a sled?
That’s a wonderful experience! Since I am used to fly in the sky, I took it like a fish to water!
You must be really busy during the Christmas holidays! What’s your secret to remain peaceful?
I would say that it requires a lot of preparation, as well as a certain amount of experience (and given my advanced age, I’ve already accumulated a lot!). I can also rely on my Christmas elves, they are very helpful during busy periods.
You must flight very high in the sky. Is it necessary for you to take time to acclimate to temperature and altitude?
I live in a country very far away, where cold weather is normal. I especially love Christmas time because I am able to go out and fly through the starry sky. And despite cold nights, my great coat protects me from being cold.
Where did you park your sled in Val Thorens?
Just like everyone else! I have to park my sled in a car park during my stay. There’s always a special place for me.
What do your reindeers eat in Val Thorens?
I bring their food myself, so they are full of energy for the night! Also, many children leave some carrots on their windowsill at Christmas night, and my reindeers love snacking some during our travel!
Do you think kids are nice in Val Thorens?
(Almost) every kid in the world is nice!
And, to conclude, what’s your best memory in Val Thorens?
My favorite thing in Val Thorens is the warm welcome I received, and above all the hot chocolate by the fireplace, just before leaving for my Christmas route!
If you want to ask some questions to Santa, you can find him every year in Val Thorens Christmas Village!
