Winter 2015-2016 is just around the corner, bringing with it many changes to Les 3 Vallées ski area. As ever, this season boasts a wealth of new developments, with your comfort and enjoyment in mind!

Saint-Martin-de-Belleville: Saint Martin Express 6-seater detachable chair lift

Let’s start with Saint Martin de Belleville, where the former Saint Martin 2 chair lift has been replaced by a 6-seater detachable bubble chair lift. Following the original route, there will be fewer pylons and less chairs, but a higher passenger flow (3,200 people/hr).

This impressive development will enable skiers to get from Saint Martin de Belleville to Les Menuires and Meribel far quicker.

Length: 2,392 m
Altitude at departure: 1,796 m
Altitude at arrival: 2,404 m
Vertical drop: 608 m
Passenger flow: 3,200 people/hr

Les Menuires: Bettex 4-seater detachable chair lift

For the 2015-16 season, Les Menuires has updated the former Saint Martin 2 detachable chair lift, providing access to users from a whole area of the resort known as Le Bettex.

This 4-seater chair lift will be longer, reaching as far as La Violette green run, and the top of the «Bettex» blue run above the Brelin area of resort.

Length: 1,764 m
Altitude at departure: 1,560 m
Altitude at arrival: 2,940 m
Vertical drop: 374 m
Passenger flow: 2,400 people/hr

Val Thorens: New facades for the Thorens and 3 Vallées funitel stations

To provide clients with greater comfort and a more attractive-looking ski area, SETAM is showcasing the Thorens and 3 Vallées funitel arrival and departure stations through innovative architecture. Inspired by the shape of an aeroplane wing stripped back to let light stream in, these ski lifts won’t fail to pique skiers’ curiosity.

Val Thorens: Piste de la chasse

Situated on the Plein Sud sector, the Chasse red run now continues the Pluviomètre run all the way to Boulevard Cumin. The development creates additional routes on the ski area and improves the flow of slope users.

Skiers can also stop off for a delicious break at Alpine chalet and restaurant “Chez Pépé Nicolas”, which now boasts doorstep skiing access.

Val Thorens / Orelle: Piste de Lory

Designed as a panoramic route, this run covers a distance of more than 4 kilometres, starting out from the top of the Thorens funitel lift at an altitude of 3,000 metres, down to the Plan Bouchet chair lift through the Lory glacial valley.

Stunning views over the Maurienne mountaintops and the famous Aiguilles d’Arve are there for the taking. Without a single village as far as the eye can see, and encircled by impressive mountains such as the Pointe du Bouchet, this new route is the only one to cross the untamed valley, connecting to Orelle's ski area where snowsports enthusiasts can soak up the peaceful and enchanting atmosphere of this hidden valley.

Val Thorens: Funslope

The Funslope; this fun obstacle course is the first of its kind in France.

Val Thorens has created a 900-metre long course comprised of more than 50 fun modules, some using sounds and others requiring physical interaction – a real challenge for the senses! Snow tunnels, bridges, spirals, banked corners… 3 minutes of fun-packed action for skiers and boarders of all ages who just want to have fun.

Located next to the "2 Lacs" detachable chair lift, at the centre of Val Thorens’ ski area, the Funslope is a brand new experience in which to take your first steps into the world of skiercross or just to have fun. Try it once and you’re sure to want to try again…and again!

Val Thorens: Easy Park

This new ‘easy to ride’ 7-hectare area welcomes freestyle wannabies, with jumps that are specially adapted for beginners and those making their first freestyle moves. And if you’re looking for inspiration from the pros, just cross the Piste des Plateaux and head over to the expert’s snowpark.

Méribel: Les Combes 6-seater detachable chair lift, TKE Arolles & TK Combes

Méribel Mottaret is totally redesigning the Mont de la Challe sector. The aim is to provide more features (beginner’s ski area, night skiing, tobogan run…), whilst creating faster and more comfortable ski access to Le Hameau and Tougnète.

The 4-seater detachable Les Combes chair lift will be replaced by a longer 6-seater detachable chair lift which will arrive just above the Tonia chalet. The Table Verte chair lift will then be removed.

This new 6-seater detachable chair lift will have an intermediary station providing access to the Méribel Mottaret runs on the Mont de la Challe mountainside; a new green run will leave from here and will also be used for night skiing.

A ski tow on rollers will also be installed at the crossroads of the Hermine and Furet runs, arriving close to the Table Verte chair lift departure point.

To round off this beginner’s area, Méribel plans to set up the Table Verte magic carpet, next to Les Arolles ski tow departure point.

So, now you know all there is to know about what’s new on the slopes of Les 3 Vallées, but make sure you come back and take another look as this feature will be updated regularly.
