On the 22th of June 2019, discover the ancient ritual of "l'emmontagnée". Enjoy a day of conviviality and sharing, rythmed by the traditionnal ceremony celebrating the beginning of summer.

Starting in Saint Martin de Belleville, herds of cows and goats will travel along different mountain villages such as Saint Martin de Belleville, Saint Marcel, Praranger and Bettaix, to reach their alpine pastures located between Les Menuires and Val Thorens resorts.

Herds will arrive at Chalet d'Alpage Chez Pépé Nicolas, a traditionnal French high pasture chalet, nestled high in the Belleville's mountains, just in front of Péclet's glacier.


  • Transhumance will leave Saint Martin de Belleville village at 8:30 am, and is due to arrive at 12:30 pm.
  • At lunchtime, party will continue over a meal, accompagnied by musiciens and a magician !
  • Full course meal : 25 euros (excluding drinks)
  • During the afternoon, participants are invited to take part in milking cows and goats.
