FIS Ski Cross World Cup

The Ski Cross World Cup arrives in Val Thorens from 8 to 9 December

For the tenth consecutive year, the Val Thorens Sports Club is organising the Ski Cross World Cup!

For this edition, improvements have been made to make it even more impressive than before.

What is ski cross?

Skicross was born at the end of the 1990s in the United States, where the first Winter X Games were created.

The principle of ski cross is quite simple, it consists of a race along a course made up of various natural or artificial elements such as bumps, curves or jumps.

Four by four, the skiers compete against each other and race down the course as fast as possible. Only the top two finishers in each run qualify for the next stage, right up to the grand final!

Skicross has been an Olympic event since the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

On the programme

• At the bottom of the Jean-Frédéric Chapuis piste, you can enjoy the show while taking advantage of the village and its animations.
• On Wednesday 7 December at 6pm, the opening ceremony will take place on the Board (the brand new sports centre), with a view of the torchlight descent. Then a firework display will close the presentation of the teams!
