This year is a special one…with lots of landmark birthdays to celebrate.

Val Thorens’ opening season marker is the well known annual snow event, Varsity.

Organised by, and for, students from the renowned Oxford and Cambridge universities in the UK, the Varsity team bring out 3000 attendees for a week full of snow, festival style parties, memorable après moments and snowsports competitions for all levels to enjoy.

"Our aim is to bring innovative events, huge acts and generalised fun to the mountains for Oxbridge students to unwind after a busy term. We also strive to make the trip as accessible and sustainable as possible, meaning more people can enjoy the snow and that the snow will last longer. And why is this year so special?

Because not only do Val Thorens celebrate their big 50th but the Varsity event runs its 100th year and celebrates a centenary! The 100th edition will take place this year on the 3-10th December.

And if that wasn’t enough to cheer about, we also raise a glass to NUCO Travel (who operate the Varsity week alongside Val Thorens as partners) who turn 10!

All in all, many years collectively of hard work, hard play, pride and passion to celebrate!
