What is Via Ferrata?

Via ferrata is a fun, sporting activity for families and friends, accessible to children aged 7 and over. It's an exotic and exciting vertical adventure over rocks, ladders, cables, suspension bridges, Nepalese bridges or monkey bridges.

The Lavassay Via Ferrata

  • How to find us : D117 road, 1 km from Les Menuires in the direction of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville.
  • Level : PD (not very difficult)
  • Approach time : 15 minutes
  • Total length : 350 metres
  • Difference in altitude : 80 metres
  • Journey time : 1h30

This via ferrata has been set up on a rocky bar above the village of Lavassay and is perfect for a beginner's introduction to the sport. Please note that this activity takes place on mountain terrain. It requires a thorough knowledge of the techniques and specific equipment (helmet, harness, double lanyard connected to a shock absorber).

Via Ferrata du Cochet

  • How to find us : Le Châtelard, 1.5 km from Saint-Martin-de-Belleville - Car park in the hamlet of Plalautray
  • Level : AD (fairly difficult)
  • Approach time : 20 minutes
  • Total length : 750 metres
  • Difference in altitude : 375 metres
  • Journey time : 4h

Le Cochet dominates the village of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville from its beautiful, clear quartzite cliffs. This AD (fairly difficult) via ferrata is built on these east-facing hard rock faces. Be careful, this activity takes place on mountain terrain. It requires a perfect knowledge of the techniques and specific equipment (helmet, harness, double lanyard connected to a shock absorber).

The Via Cordata

A cousin of the via ferrata, this is also a vertical route on which you are roped up. The difference is that you'll be equipped with climbing shoes. The Maison des Guides et de la Montagene will take you to the via cordata in Sainte-Foy Tarentaise.
