Belleville Valley

The climb

June 22, at the initiative of the Chez Pépé Nicolas alpine farm, the valley hosts the ancestral ritual of “the climb”. A day of conviviality and sharing around this traditional ceremony to celebrate the arrival of summer. Departing from Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, the herds will leave the village to reach the mountain pasture 6 km higher between Les Menuires and Val Thorens.

The programme

  • 8:30 a.m./8:45 a.m.: departure of the herd. You will have 6 km to cover at the gentle pace of the cows or at the faster pace of the goats. The herd will cross the villages of St Marcel, Praranger, Bettaix (where a small supply will await you), then the bottom of Menuires at Plan de l'eau to arrive at the mountain pasture of Chez Pépé Nicolas where a Savoyard meal will be offered to you.
